“Zero Defect:Zero Effect” and other Highlights of Narendra Modi’s Maiden Independence Day Speech

India as a manufacturing hub; this idea of Narendra Modi is soon become a reality, as expressed by Narendra Modi in his maiden Independence Day speech. The speech delivered by India’s Prime Minister on 68th Independence Day is first among many parameters:

  • This is the first speech delivered by Shri. Narendra Modi
  • In India’s Independence history of 67 years, this is the first non-scripted speech. Narendra Modi deliver the speech without taking help of any scripted writing.
  • First time there was no bullet proof barricade was there between Prime Minister and public. The communication in many sense was direct and exchangeable.
  • First time any Prime Minister unfurls the national flag wearing turban, showing spiritual respect for the Indian-flag and its deep rooted democracy.
  • Shri. Narendra Modi concluded his speech chanting “Vande Mataram“. This is the first time when “Vande Mataram” is recited at Red Fort.narendra-modi

Apart from these, the hour long speech has many more highlights.

  1. Narendra Modi announces two new schemes namely “Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana” where each member of parliament has to adopt a village of their choice and make efforts to transform that village into a ideal village and “PM Jan Dhan Yojana” which a direct implementation of financial inclusion scheme. Banks will be asked to open savings accounts to each member of a poor family and the government will provide an insurance of 1 lakh rupees to them.
  2. Narendra Modi puts the curtain on the speculations about Planning Commission as he announced that there will be new commission created out from the partnership of centre and states to accelerate the economic development, which will replace the existing Planning Commission.
  3. He reiterated that the safety and protection of women will be his government top priority. He shown concerns for reducing the sex ratio as well as for increased cases of violence against women. He said government will do its work but provide respect to a women is also the job of society and we must obey it.
  4. The curbing the menace of  corruption is utmost priority for him. He said the culture of “mujhe kya and mera kya” should must end now.
  5. To make country better for live, Narendra Modi stress upon the cleanliness and said that we will be celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in 2019 and a clean and green India will be ideal homage for this occasion.
  6. He visioned for a Digital India, where mobile will be the crux of delivery of public service. He emphasizes the importance of E-Governance  and said that E-Governance is Effective Governance.
  7. He dreamed to make India a hub of manufacturing. Narendra Modi given the new slogan – Make in India, Made in India. He invited the world to come and make India their manufacturing unit. He also emphasis that the product made in India should be Zero Defect and put Zero Effect on environment i.e, should be environment friendly.
  8. Narendra Modi suggest an innovative idea for employment generation of skilled youth. He said, India is importing a large number of electronic goods which are very easy to make. He asked the youth to select only one item from this list and make them in India with zero defect and zero effect and export them to other part of the world.
